Mexico’s President-Elect Sheinbaum Presents Members of Her Cabinet

On Thursday, Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum presented the members of her future cabinet, some of whom collaborated with her in the government of Mexico City.

The first cabinet members announced included Omar Garcia (Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection), Ariadna Montiel (Secretary of Welfare), Mario Delgado (Secretary of Education), and Rosa Rodriguez (Secretary of Interior).
“We will give value to a woman’s word. I will conduct myself with honesty,” said Rodriguez as she expressed her gratitude for the nomination, ensuring that it will be a privilege to work with Sheinbaum in building “the second floor of the Fourth Transformation.”
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to help women with this new program,” said Montiel, who will reinforce social policies and support for women over 64 years old.
Other figures who will work in the Sheinbaum administration include Luz Gonzalez (Secretary of Energy), David Kershenobich (Secretary of Health), Jesus Esteva (Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport), Raquel Buenrostro (Secretary of Public Administration), and Rogelio Ramirez (Secretary of Finance).
Sheinbaum also appointed Edna Vega (Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development), Rosaura Ruiz (Secretary of Sciences, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation), Juan Ramon De la Fuente (Secretary of Foreign Affairs), Julio Berdegue (Secretary of Agriculture), and Ernestina Godoy (Legal Counsel to the Presidency) as part of her team.
Among the figures with the most international experience are Alicia Barcena (Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources) and Marcelo Ebrard (Secretary of Economy).
